Fopefolu Jolugbo plops us in a medley of related themes: love, empathy, juvenile emotions, and appreciation. The imagery of water runs amok in the collection and not once are we afraid of
sinking in clichés in the deft hands of this young poet. He weaves relatability into every verse. When he worries, we worry; when he praises his dad, a part of us identifies, and when he ventures into the forbidden, we suspend judgment and permit a new way of seeing, and ultimately, we empathise.
